Manifest Terms of Service

Effective date: 15 September 2026 (version 4, closed test)

These terms are an agreement between you and Novee Consultants, a registered Malaysian business (SSM business registration no. CA0324687-D), based in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia ("we", "us", "our"), the operator of the Manifest app. By using Manifest you agree to these terms. They are written in plain language on purpose; the plain meaning is the intended meaning.

What Manifest is

Manifest lets you save quotes and video clips that matter to you, arrange them into playlists, and listen to them. For a quote, the app can create spoken audio of the text. That audio is AI-synthesized speech created by a third-party text-to-speech provider (ElevenLabs) at our request; it is not a human recording. You can also record your own voice reading a quote; we never receive those recordings.

Manifest also has a community: you can make a quote public so other people can find it, read it, and listen to it in the app's Community section, and you can vote on quotes other people have shared. Browsing and listening to community quotes needs nothing from you. Making a quote public or voting needs a free account, which you create with your email address.

You can also choose a public handle — a name of your own choosing, not your real name — and get a public profile. Once you have a handle, the quotes you make public from then on show your handle, and anyone can open your profile to see those quotes and how many people follow you. Choosing a handle is optional; if you never choose one, your public quotes stay unattributed, shown as "Shared by a listener." See "Your handle, your profile, and following" below for what is public and what is not.

Your content, your responsibility

You choose what text and clips to save into Manifest, and what to have synthesized into audio. You are responsible for the content you create with Manifest: for having the right to use it, and for what you use it for. We do not review what you save. If content you created with Manifest infringes someone's rights, that responsibility is yours.

When you make a quote public, you are also responsible for the quote you share: for having the right to share it, for the attribution you give it, and for what you make visible to other people. Anyone can report a public quote, and we can hide or remove it (see "Reporting content, and how removal works"). We do not check a public quote for accuracy before it appears: a quote in the Community section starts as something a person shared, not something we have checked. We may later review a quote and mark it as verified, which means we have checked that its attribution matches the source it cites. Unless a quote has been marked as verified, treat it as one person's claim about who said what.

The licence you give us

Creating spoken audio requires us to handle your content. For anything you submit for audio synthesis, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store the submitted text and its details, to synthesize a spoken rendering of it, and to host the resulting audio file so it can be played back to you. This licence is for running the service. It ends for a given item when the hosted material is removed, except that we keep the technical ledger entry that prevents removed audio from being silently re-created.

When you make a quote public, you grant us a further, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display that quote — its text, the speaker attribution and source link you gave it, and its synthesized audio — to other people in Manifest, and to stream that audio to them so they can listen to it. This licence covers only what is needed to show your public quote to other Manifest users and lasts only while the quote stays public: it ends when the quote is removed from the Community section — by us in response to a report or takedown, or when you delete your account (which removes the quotes you made public) — subject to the same honest limit on already-cached copies described below. You keep whatever rights you had in the quote; making it public does not give them to us or to anyone else.

If you have chosen a handle, this licence also lets us show your handle next to the public quotes you share while you hold it, gather those quotes together on your public profile, and show your follower and following counts there. This is what makes a handle and a profile work: it covers only displaying your chosen handle, your own public quotes, and those counts to other Manifest users, and it lasts only while your handle and those quotes stay public. If you change your handle, the public quotes already attributed to you take the new one. If you give up your handle, or delete your account, those quotes go back to being shown as "Shared by a listener," with nothing linking them to you.

What you promise about your content

You warrant that you have the necessary rights to any content you submit for synthesis or storage, and that your use of it with Manifest does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law. Public-figure quotes saved for personal listening are the normal use of Manifest; the warranty is about rights and lawfulness, not about who wrote the words.

Your handle, your profile, and following

A handle is a public name you choose. It is not your real name, and we do not ask for or check your real name. Your handle is world-visible: anyone, whether or not they use Manifest and whether or not they are signed in, can see your handle on the quotes you share and open your profile to see those quotes and your follower and following counts. Your email address and your account stay private and are never shown on your profile. Only the quotes you make public after you have a handle are attributed to it; anything you shared before, and anything you keep on your own device, is not.

Do not impersonate. Do not choose or use a handle to pose as another real person, a public figure, a brand, or Manifest itself, or in any way meant to make people think your quotes or your profile belong to someone they do not. Some names are reserved or blocked for this reason and cannot be claimed. We may refuse, rename, reclaim, or suspend any handle that impersonates someone or is otherwise abusive, and a handle we reclaim for impersonation is retired for good and cannot be claimed again. If we rename or reclaim your handle, the public quotes it attributed go back to being shown as "Shared by a listener."

You can follow other people and they can follow you. How many followers you have, and how many people you follow, are public numbers on your profile. Who exactly follows whom is not public: no one else can see your list of followers or the list of people you follow. You can always see who follows you and block any of them. Following someone does not notify them, and a follower count is just a count — it does not rank, feature, or promote anyone, and it is not proof of anything.

Prohibited content and uses

Our text-to-speech provider forbids certain uses, and we cannot synthesize what our provider forbids us to synthesize. Do not use Manifest to create or distribute:

• sexual material involving minors, or any content that exploits or endangers children;
• content that is illegal, or that facilitates illegal goods, services or activity;
• fraud or deception, including scams, phishing, spam, or presenting synthesized audio as a real human recording in order to deceive;
• impersonation of a real person's voice without their consent, or any use of synthesized audio to harass, defame or deceive (the app's stock voices are generic and are not clones of any real person; do not try to use them as if they were);
• violent, hateful or harassing material, including incitement, extremism, discrimination against protected groups, or promotion of self-harm;
• interference with elections, including impersonating candidates or spreading misleading voting information.

We may refuse to synthesize, host or continue hosting content that violates this section.

Reporting content, and how removal works

If you believe content hosted by Manifest infringes your rights or violates these terms, email us at novee.manifestapp@proton.me with the content's address and a short description of the problem. We act on valid reports expeditiously, normally within 72 hours of receiving them, and we will reply to your email with the outcome.

This same email is how to report a handle or profile that impersonates you or someone else. You do not need a Manifest account to report an impersonation: if someone is using a handle to pose as you, and you do not use the app, email us at the address above and we will act on it the same way. If you do use the app, you can also report a handle from inside it, using the "Report this handle" button on the profile. We act on valid impersonation reports within the same time, and can rename, reclaim, or suspend the handle (see "Your handle, your profile, and following").

You can also report a community quote from inside the app, using its report button. A report made through an in-app or on-page report button is anonymous by design, so the action we take is itself the response, since we have no way to reply to you. What that action is depends on the quote. A quote we have not reviewed is normally hidden as soon as it is reported, while we look into it: for content we have not checked, taking it out of view first is the safer choice. A quote we have reviewed and marked as verified is not taken down by a single report; we look into the report first, and hide the quote if the report proves right or if several separate people report the same quote. Either way, we look at every report within 24 hours, and act on it in the same time as a takedown, normally within 72 hours.

What removal can and cannot do, honestly: removing hosted audio deletes the file from our server and blocks that exact rendering from being re-created. Copies that were already downloaded and cached on people's devices before removal are outside our reach, and remain on those devices until their caches are cleared.

What we can do about violations

If you break these terms we can, depending on what happened: remove hosted content, take a public quote out of the Community section, refuse synthesis or hosting service for content or sources that violate these terms, and block abusive request patterns. We can also rename, reclaim, or suspend a handle that impersonates someone or is otherwise abusive. Publishing and voting need an account, so we can also suspend or permanently ban the account of someone who misuses the community — for example by sharing infringing quotes, impersonating someone with a handle, or by trying to rig votes. Your locally saved data on your own device is yours and is not affected by any of this.

YouTube

Manifest's video features use YouTube API Services and YouTube's embedded player. By using them, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms). The Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) describes Google's handling of data in the embedded player.

Service, disclaimers, and the limit of our liability

Manifest is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. It is a closed-test product under active development: features can change, break or be removed, and hosted audio can become unavailable. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Manifest, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service (currently: nothing). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Manifest changes. The current version at this address is the one that applies, and the effective date above tells you when it last changed.
